ASA Bangladesh, in partnership with Catalyst Microfinance Investor (CMI), established ASA International (ASAI) in 2007. The primary objective of ASAI is to GreenfieldASA’s Model of microfinance operation in various countries in the world. ASAI is currently establishing new MFIs in various countries including India, Nigeria,Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Ghana. Each of these MFIs is following the highly efficient ASA Model, adjusted for local circumstances.
ASA Afghanistan was registered with the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) in early 2008 with assistance from the Microfinance Investment Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA) for the sake of expansion and to deliver the best services to the Afghan nation. ASA Afghanistan became a partner withMISFA for obtaining fund as well as technical support.
ASA Afghanistan started its microfinance services in late 2008, and disbursement has been started since early March 2009 through small loan and small business loan.
