| | | BRAC Afghanistan was established by BRAC, the largest NGO in Bangladesh, and was registered as an international NGO in Afghanistan in May 2002. BRAC Afghanistan has initiated its micro-finance program in Afghanistan in September 2002. Since then, the organization has expanded rapidly to become the leading microfinance institution in Afghanistan. With a mission to boost the business sector and to create employment through enterprise development in the rural and semi urban areas of Afghanistan, BRAC Microfinance Afghanistan has launched its SEP (Small Enterprise Project). Through ALDCSP (Agriculture and Livestock Development Credit Support Program) BRAC Microfinance Afghanistan is providing financial and technical services to local Afghans to increase agricultural productivity. Another distinctive product, BRAC Microfinance Afghanistan offers is ALRFP (Alternative Livelihood Rural Finance Program) which aims to eliminate opium cultivation and helping farmers and traders with alternative way to earn their livelihood. Moreover, BRAC successfully continues to operate microfinance programs in a number of countries i.e. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Tanzania, Uganda, Indonesia, Sudan, Liberia and Sierra Leon.
