MADRAC was established in June 2005 by the Danish NGO, DACAAR, with the main goal of providing microfinance services to low-income households in rural areas of Afghanistan, MADRAC uses a solidarity group lending method for its operation with group sizes of 10 -20 members. MADRAC also provides Sharia complaint loan (Murabeha)as well as Small Enterprise Loans (SEL)Presently, MADRAC reaches rural households of Herat, Ghazni, Laghman, Kapisa, Parwan, Logar, Nangarhar and Kabul provinces.
The organization is managed by an all-Afghan staff.
