PARWAZ is the first ever Microfinance Institution established by an Afghan woman in the fall of 2002. It is a grass-roots, local Microfinance organization offering credit to male and female households in Kabul and Ghazni city and surrounding areas. PARWAZ won the 2003 CGAP Pro-Poor Innovation Award. In addition, 4 PARWAZ clients were winners of the 2004 Global Microfinance Awards to mark the International Year of Micro Credit.
The organization has expanded rapidly in Kabul. As of February 09 PARWAZ working in Kabul with 13 branches offering micro credit services to 9625 clients with an outstanding portfolio AFN 79679857 (US $1,593,597).Clients are mainly women. PARWAZ also provides SME loans from new branch in Kabul opened in November 2008.
